This hotel is beautiful!!! My boyfriend and I were honestly nervous to stay here after reading some of the bad reviews - but don’t listen to them. The property is so tranquil and outdoorsy and offers pilates/yoga. The breakfast was great, the pool gets tons of sun, the drinks at the bar were amazing, and there’s even a pool table to hang out and chill. I would highly recommend staying here!

We had an amazing experience at Hotel Bordo in Tulum. From the very first moment, we felt truly welcomed. The place is beautiful, peaceful, and has a special atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious, the room service was excellent, and the cleanliness was outstanding. There was always hot water with great pressure, and the jungle shower experience was simply amazing and unforgettable. Leo and the entire team took care of us with genuine warmth and attention, always making sure we had everything we needed. Exceptional service, a personal touch, and an unforgettable stay. We will definitely be back. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a perfect stay in Tulum.

We came to Bardo for my husband’s 40th birthday and it was a wonderful trip. This boutique hotel is truly a unique experience in Tulum. It is a beautiful and serene oasis nestled in the jungle, just a short scooter ride from the hustle and bustle of downtown/centro. I actually think the location of Bardo is perfect. Hotel zone is too expensive and touristy, and downtown is a little noisy. Bardo is close enough to get around, but far enough to enjoy quiet, rest, and relaxation. Bardo is a truly one-of-a-kind sensual experience. The attention to detail is apparent throughout the hotel. The incredible smells, the flavors of the food and drinks, the soft amber lighting, the jungle vibes, and the general ambience are all very intoxicating. The aroma/scent of the rooms is earthy, organic, very light, but smells absolutely incredible. They also provide lovely incense that we burned each night. The room itself is stunning, beautifully decorated. The heated plunge pool was perfect after a day of exploring Tulum. The hotel pool is breathtaking, and the outside shower in the hotel rooms is wonderful! The bedding and pillows are lovely, but I would recommend the hotel add a 1 inch topper on the bed, just for a little extra comfort. I was lucky enough to experience a facial, one of the best I have ever had. The spa ladies are excellent at their craft. Housekeeping does a wonderful job. The shrimp tacos and passionate fruit juice were so delicious. I sampled shrimp tacos a lot during my trip, and Bardo’s were hands-down the best. Fernando and Mara in concierge were attentive, gracious, kind, and they both truly understand the art of hospitality. There were a couple folks in concierge that weren’t as enthusiastic and maybe need some training, but other than that, everyone is incredibly welcoming and attentive. I really felt like I was able to disconnect and mentally reset here. When we return to Tulum, we will be staying here again. Go ahead and book, you will not regret it!

We had the most wonderful stay at Bardo. Many thanks to Fernando and the whole team for being so polite, welcoming and generally lovely throughout our whole stay! The hotel is immaculate and calming, the rooms are pure luxury, the outdoor shower is amazing, the food and cocktails are delicious, and we wish we could have extended our trip! Super romantic hotel. The concierge/whatsapp assistance was great - we often messaged for some local food recommendations, cenotes etc and they responded instantly and were very helpful. It is in a perfect quiet location (the best sleep we’ve had during our travels around Mexico) and feels very safe. We also walked between 20-40 minutes in the evenings to have dinner and drinks in town (so many amazing options and very cool bars!) Felt safe, but obviously have your wits about you! You can also walk back to your room via the Una Vida entrance as they are both connected. We had a car with us and it was a 15/20 minute drive to the main Tulum beach front which we enjoyed going to for dinner one evening. A perfect spot for relaxation and recharging! Muchos Gracias.

Amazing staff. So kind and accommodating. The cocktails were out of this world. Food was very good. Free breakfast was great, much better than other hotels’ free breakfast, my one suggestion would be to offer a vegan option besides just fruit for included breakfast (maybe overnight oats or granola?). Yoga in the morning was so relaxing. Rooms were great: clean, nice sheets, well decorated without being over the top. The only reason I’m not giving a 5 star is because the WiFi for our room was not working the entire time and we were not offered any compensation or a comped meal for the inconvenience (we let staff aware the first day). We could use the pools WiFi, but we couldn’t use it within our room. Overall, still a great experience.

My husband and I travelled to Tulum for our anniversary. We stayed at two places, one being Hotel Bardo. Bardo was really an exquisite experience. The whole property is serene, the rooms were peaceful and clean, the pool area was luxurious, and the jungle showers were great. The food from Milum was great and the concierge service was fantastic too. I really enjoyed the morning yoga and Pilates classes. They had free classes at their sister property too, although I did not go there. The location of the hotel was great for us as well. We could easily walk to see things in the area. We both especially enjoyed seeing and hearing many different birds on the property. A few notes for others travelling to this amazing hotel: Before we arrived we had read a number of reviews about guests experiencing issues with hot water - this was not an issue for us at all. Our room had a heated pool. This wasn’t a hot tub, more of bath water feeling which was perfect for us. The main pool is not heated and the week we went to Tulum was unseasonably cold so we were thankful to enjoy our pool! Although our breakfast was included (limited menu), the tip is not and you cannot pay by card - bring cash with you.

We chose the boutique Hotel Bardo in Tulum for our short stay and it did not disappoint. The hotel felt intimate and, since we visited during the off-season in September, wonderfully private and quiet. This is not a party hotel--it’s a place that focuses on relaxation and rejuvenation. I loved the eclectic décor...think sexy, moody colors against a lush backdrop of greenery and lots of natural materials. The room was beautifully designed, and we especially enjoyed the outdoor shower (though I wish the water had gotten hotter). The private plunge pool was a nice touch for spending time together, even if it was a bit chilly despite the humidity. This is a minimalist vibe, so don’t expect to watch TV, instead, enjoy the patch of paradise you’re in. Even with the rainy weather, we didn’t experience many mosquitoes (thanks for my DIY mosquito repellant oils!) though we didn’t get to use the main pool as much as we’d hoped. The property is full of spaces designed for quiet conversations, meditation, and deep relaxation. Customer service was amazing from the moment we arrived until we left. Guadalupe and Isabel were excellent concierges: proactive, friendly, and always just a WhatsApp message away for taxi arrangements or local recommendations. The hotel is about 20 minutes from the lively party scene in central Tulum, but I loved that there were still unique boutiques and souvenir shops within walking distance from Bardo. There’s no dinner service onsite, but breakfast and lunch at Bardo were consistently delicious. We tried dinner at the sister hotel Milam one night, which didn’t quite live up to expectations, but overall, Tulum’s food scene was incredible. We missed out on the ice bath and temazcal ceremony (next time!), but we did enjoy a slow yoga session that was a great way to connect with the serene environment. The highlight of our stay was the couples massage--and as a couple who gets massages everywhere we travel, I can honestly say this was the best massage we’ve ever had anywhere in the world. Señoras Gloria and Joseline have truly magical, healing hands! I’d be curious to compare a stay at Milam next time, but as of now, Hotel Bardo was a truly transformative experience.
